2nd grade field trip to Kennecott Copper Mine

I went with Ellie's class to the Kennecott Cooper Mine on Thursday. It was a very eventful trip!~ The bus broke down! The parents had to drive up separately. We kept waiting for the bus to show up. Finally a couple of moms came up to say it had broken down. The kids were stuck on the side of the road for about 2 hours. They sang songs, ate lunch, but poor Ellie I had her lunch!
They were finally able to get another bus and come up to the visitor center. They had already had quite the adventure!

My cute little Ellie posing in front of a old railroad signal.
Avery and Ellie looking through the telescope at the mine. They all had a great time sharing the telescope and looking at the mine. It is huge and I think the kids were impressed by it.
We were able to look around the visit center, minus the movie. It was to full so Mrs Woods class missed out on the movie. The time was up, so we just didn't have anymore time to watch it. The kids had a great time looking at things around the house that are made of minerals, looking at the old pictures and rocks. I think everyone was very interested by what they saw.

Some of my cute little group, minus 2. Demitri, James, Ellie and Genny. This is an old shovel scoop that was invented for making it easier to get the rocks out of the mine. Built Early 1900's

This is just one of the tires on the big trucks they have. This thing is huge! not to mention expensive to replace!

This is an old mining bucket.

and of course an old mining car.

The kids had such a packed day. They were able to enjoy themselves, but with a little less time.
