My daughter the Star!

We went to the bird show at the Wild Animal Park. We got there early and just sat down trying to cool off. A lady, that does the show, came up to us and asked Jalyse if she wanted to be in the show. She was a little hesitate but she agreed to be in it. I didn't think they actually got people from the audience.
We sat and watched a man with a parrot The bird could make different sounds and talk. It was a neat bird. We saw an owl and another bird that I can't remember what it is. Its been a while since we went. I apparently am getting old. The bird flew all around the stadium and a lady at the front swung food around on a string. You could really see how the bird staked out its prey and how he ended up with his prize. They use the sun and other ways to catch their prey off guard.

The parrot who talked and did different sounds.

The bird is actually eating a mouse in front of us. He was ripping the thing up and swallowing it whole parts. Pretty cute.

Jalyse was called up to the front. She was told to be a good animal trainer and hold her arm straight out and palm down. The trainer put some Condor treats in her hand. She was told that she was going to have to hold her arm out and be ready to catch a really heavy bird. She was a little nervous. A Condor is one of the heaviest birds around. Right after she said that the bird flew out from behind her and landed on her arm. It was a pigeon. It was a very beautiful pigeon. Her name was Gertrude and she was a Nicobar pigeon, from the Nicobar Islands.

Jalyse Holding Gertrude when she first flew out.

Jalyse said she was heavy!

This is Jalyse after she was done with the bird show. Everyone gave her around of applause.
After Jalyse was done this bird came out from the top of the audience. I believe it was a Condor. It was a huge bird! It took awhile to fly down, it didn't want to come on command. When it did finally fly down, it was walking all over the place. It was a pretty big bird. Don't want to meet up with that bird!

The bird show was great! Jalyse liked holding the pigeon and we all had a great time watching her. What a neat experience for her to always remember. Thanks San Diego Wild Animal Park!

What a great adventure! I loved every part, but this one, "He was ripping the thing up and swallowing it whole parts. Pretty cute." That was a little disturbing. Jalyse, you are brave, very brave.
