Last week I had the chance to go up and watch Good Things Utah. Its kinda like the View, 4 ladies, but they talk and have local people on..craft segments..cooking etc. John organized a fund raiser for a local comic book writer that has Cancer, Jake Black. Dragon's keep was doing a sketch-a-thon in conjunction with their anniversary celebration. John was promoting this fundraiser everywhere, and one of the anchors on ABC4 News found out about it and contacted a producer for Good Things Utah. She called John and wanted to have some of the artists come on and promote the fundraiser. John, to say the least, was thrilled we were getting some attention to try and help Jake out. There is a ton of local comic book talent in Utah. Yes live with it long enough and yes you know a lot more then you really ever cared to know!
John contacted 3 artists and they were all able to go up and be on the show.
I had been waiting forever for John to ask me to come. I watch the show! Hey for the first time in my life with his little obsession I actually really wanted to go to something! I kept waiting! He finally asked me to go. I told him I thought you would never ask! I got to sit with Travis's wife, Tara, and we had a great time. It was really interesting to see how it all worked out and see the show. They panned the audience, so I was even on TV! John was suppose to be sitting next to me, but he was in the green room with the other guys, so he missed out!
This is Reagan Leadbetter, Travis Walton, Chad Hardin, and Tyler Kirkham on the show. The guys in the comic book industry, in Utah, are a close family. They really came together to help out one of their own. It was really neat to get so much attention to try and help Jake out with his bills.
This is a Teenage Mutant Ninja sketch that Travis did. He ended up giving it to Reagan for her boys.
They were all sketching while they were talking on the show.
Last Saturday, was the sketch-a-thon. They had a lot of people show up in support of Jake and it was a great success. They were able to raise a lot more money then they thought they could. I think everyone that came had a great time and they were able to help someone.

That's cool. I think it's neat that all those guys are working together to help someone out like that. I've always wanted to go to Good Things Utah, too. How fun!
