PV

Next up was Puerto Vallarta- PV for short. Before we left, I was going to look up each of these city's and come up with things to do. Needless to say, I ran out of time and didn't get anything done. I had no idea what we were going to do in PV, big mistake! This is a beautiful place and I would have loved to have seen the jungle, gone to the beach or something. You can book excursion on the ship and they are not cheap. We couldn't afford to go on one at every port. I think we should have done at least one on this trip, so this would have been the time to do it. Lesson learned...
We just ended up going to the Malecon, really the tourist trap, and walked along a path that was right next to the ocean. The path was on one side of the street and shops were on the other. My advice, stay by the sea. There were all kinds of statues along this boardwalk, and we took a lot of pictures of them.

The sea horse is one of their famous statues

This one John just had to have a picture next too, this little martian man

There were about 8 statues all in a circle. It was a really interesting display. This one that I am sitting on and the one below with John is just two of them.

There are so many sculptures in this area, that we kinda went a little crazy taking pictures :) The ocean was beautiful!

All along the side of this boardwalk are sand sculptures that people have made. If you know anything by now, about Mexico, everyone does something to make a buck. There were boxes set out in front of the sand sculptures for you to leave a tip for them. Yes really.

We did walk into some stores and picked up a few things on our "Free" scavenger hunt, but I don't buy anything else. I really wanted to get some silver jewelry, for me, but it was all to much money. We saw another Senior Frogs, yes I don't know what it is with us and that store. I didn't even buy anything there, but these benches were cute, and since Jalyse loves monkey's, we took pictures for her.

We then left the Malecon area and tried to find our way to Old town. We were told that is less touristy, but I don't think so. We did manage to find another catholic church and we went inside this one.

The buildings go right up to this one. There is barley room for the church to stand there anymore. I was really amazed they built up so close to it.

As you can tell, the inside of it was gorgeous.

We found old town, you had to go over a bridge. It really was the same little flee market shops and really nothing different. I did find a store that had these beautiful dresses in it and I would have loved to have brought one back for Ellie's baptism, but it was 160 bucks, so much for being cheaper... gorgeous!

We started walking out of it and found a taxi. On the way in we saw a Chile's and an Outback, yes welcome to America. After my experience of yesterdays food, I wanted something I was familiar with so we went to Chile's.

John thought it was so funny to take this picture. Now I decided to wear my tennis shoes today. Per husbands direction. Ha Ha. I will never wear them again! My feet were fine in my sandals and wearing these tennis shoes I could barely walk anymore they hurt so bad! I had my feet up and I wish I could have taken them off! After lunch we walked back down the road and headed back to the dock. We had heard their was a walmart, so yes we were off on a quest to find it.

Shocking we found it. Of course I go to a beautiful city on the ocean and I go to walmart! We bought a few things, yes of course we did. Some Mexican Vanilla, a Mexican comic book and a few magnets. We collect magnets from wherever we go, so we had to keep the tradition alive. We also had to buy another bag, since we had no room to bring anything back with us! Another lesson learned... After walmart we headed to the mall next door, but seriously it was all expensive! I could get stuff cheaper at home.

This is a picture from Walmart's parking lot of our ship.

We walked back to the dock and went into the flee market they had there. We ended up buying Jaden a leather wallet, Ellie got some cute sandals made in Mexico and we bought the girls these purses that are made out of wrappers. They are hand made. I hope we can come back to PV again and this time I would have to say I hope to see something other then your lovely shopping :) Lesson learned...
