A toilet is just a toilet right?

On Saturday, John, started to try and finish the downstairs bathroom. We had had the toilet and the pedestal sink for a year, so we wanted to at least try and get those up and running. When we get the money we will finish the surround on the tub. John just needed to put the flange on the pipe for the toilet and finish tiling the floor. Easy right? ha ha. Granted, by hubby is not a plumber, but he did feel like he could do this job. I went to my mom's Super Saturday and when I left he was starting on cleaning out the bathroom and getting to work. When I got home around 1:30 I had already had 3 phone calls and the hubby had already made a run to Home Depot. I was really expecting to see him almost done.. well nothing really was done but some drilling around the pipe. John had nicked the pipe and was worried he had ruined it. We waited a while and my brother came over. Said that was no biggie and just go ahead. By this time, the real plumbers, our neighbors, had come home from camping. John asked him if he would take a look. Same thing, the pipe, was not a problem just keep digging, but... your real problem is that your pipe is to close to the wall and your toilet will not fit. ARGGG. Are you kidding me? We already had to move the pipes for the shower and now the toilet is wrong too! What did the plumber do? Fall asleep on the job??? We bought the toilet and sink from Home Depot and well there is a 90 day return policy! Hello is been a year! We loaded up the kids and we headed to look for a 10 inch mount toilet. 12 inch mount is standard, who knew they had a 10 inch? Home Depot Carried one and Lowe's carried nothing. Great! We went back to Home Depot again and talked to someone and they let us return the toilet for credit. Sigh of relief! At least we have a credit. That toilet was expensive!
Next problem, a new toilet. We have a great friend that let us use his account at Mountainland and were able to get a 10 inch Kohler toilet. Only bad thing the 10 inch mounts are way more money! At least we got one and we now have a huge credit at Home Depot. I can get my faucet, mirror and whatever else I can think of! Now we just have to dig down more put a pipe on with an extender and then hopefully we can tile! Who knew a toilet would be so complicated!
